Once Upon a Time: Enchanting Tales

My family gets together once a week for dinner and some games, or a movie. My adult son hates games, and my husband, adult daughter, and I love them. So I'm always looking for one that my son might actually play with us. This one sounded like a winner, right up his alley. I was worried if I was creative enough to come up with stories on the spot. My husband and daughter voiced the same concern. But we all were coming up with new bits to add to the story, and it had us laughing very hard. Everyone came up with very creative (and sometimes hilarious) twists to the plot. When we finished, my daughter told me she wants a copy for Christmas to keep at her house. My son keeps saying he can't wait to play it again! That, coming from him, says a lot about the game!

I work as a trauma therapist, and I use these cards with clients to help discuss difficult topics and to assess levels of hope and level of self-efficacy. It also helps develop problem-solving skills and expand one's idea of choice and options. Great to use at home with kids for the same reasons, without them ever even knowing they are learning new skills. Increases creativity. The freedom of the game allows for any type of mood to develop, so stories can be funny or serious, or both, and you can't purposely avoid an emotion that randomly comes up. I love that there are also heroic female endings included.I bought all the sets, and use them all. I also use the kindle book that helps you to write stories, as it suggests some standard plot twists to get people started being creative.

Delightful playing experience, well thought out scenarios, this game is a blast to play. First couple of rounds are a little, "stiff" as players get into the storytelling mindset, but subsequent games become more and more creative and thought provoking. With play, this is a game you can really get into, and it helps all the players stretch their memories and creative "muscles"! In these days of "sound bite" media, a game like this is a boon to all the players. I give it my strongest recommendation! Kudos to the designers!

I thought this was the entire game, not expansion pack

It's a really nice addition to the main game. It changes the stories up a bit. I've also purchased Seafaring tales, Create-your-own-story, and I'm hoping to get Knightly tales when it comes out. I would really like them to come out with a scary tales expansion.

Just too complicated and not that much fun. Perhaps if a child who knew the game and liked it would show me more, I would think different. But just not what I expected. I wanted to use this in ESL classes, but it wasn't a good fit.

this game sucks. its hard to understand and to play. unplayable if your drunk

Was skeptical about this game at first since its such a loose concept but after a few rounds I am hooked. There is a rule about not being too silly in there but my friends and I break that alot since this game is really fun when you inject it with a bit of humor.
