BDF S15 Window Film Daytime Privacy and Heat Control Mirror Silver 15 (Dark) - 48in X 50ft

5 stars for the product, 4 stars for my patience during installation 😂... First things first: this stuff WORKS. We have windows that turn the house into a human air fryer every afternoon, and after installing this film the temperature difference was noticeable almost immediately. The glare is way down, the rooms stay cooler, and my AC finally gets a break instead of fighting for its life all day. That said… this film is VERY technique sensitive because it’s thinner than I expected. Thin is great once it’s installed because it looks clean and smooth, but during installation it can feel a little flimsy and dramatic if you’re not careful. If this is your first time applying window film, prepare yourself mentally and emotionally lol. My biggest advice? CLEAN YOUR WINDOWS LIKE YOUR SECURITY DEPOSIT DEPENDS ON IT. Seriously. I thought mine were clean until sunlight exposed every microscopic speck of dust, lint, dog hair, and apparently sins from previous homeowners. Any tiny debris WILL show. Second piece of advice: use WAY more soapy water than you think is reasonable. Then use more. Spray the glass. Spray the adhesive side. Spray the front side. Spray your soul if necessary. The extra slip gives you time to position everything correctly and helps prevent the film from sticking to itself like cling wrap from the depths of hell. Cutting it was honestly the hardest part for me because the film is thin and flexible, so getting perfectly straight edges takes patience. Definitely use a good straight edge and a very sharp blade. If you rush this part, the film will humble you quickly. Once installed though? Chef’s kiss... During the daytime it gives fantastic privacy while still letting light in. From outside it mostly looks like sunlight reflecting off the windows.. BUT and this part is important because apparently some people skip reading descriptions and then get mad at physics — at night the effect reverses if your lights are on inside and it’s dark outside. People absolutely can see inside at night. So if nighttime privacy is your main concern, you’ll still want blinds or curtains. Overall, I’m really happy with it. It takes patience, prep work, and a willingness to become temporarily best friends with a spray bottle, but the end result is worth it. If you go into this expecting a quick 5-minute peel-and-stick situation, you’ll probably get frustrated. If you take your time and follow the process, it looks great and makes a huge difference in heat and glare reduction.

This did the trick. My rooms are much cooler than before I installed the film. It came with instructions, a knife, and a squeegee. Installation was easy…just make sure to spray lots of soapy water on the window (after you clean it), and on the sticky side of the film (so it won’t stick to itself before you get it on the window). Also spray some on the other side of the film - side that faces you after you put it on the window (so the squeegee slides easily across it). Water will drip on the sill, and maybe the floor depending on how liberally you spray. So a drop cloth may come in handy. Also, if you blot the excess at the bottom side of the window periodically, the tendency of the film to draw it back up is diminished. Once all the water between the window and the film is squeezed out, and you work out any bubbles, it will set and then you can trim off any excess.

Arrived in good condition. Applied easily And smoothly. Just need to take your time and handle with care to not create creases. Use a lot of soapy water as directed. Looks good.

We have six large windows in our living room that gets morning and early afternoon sun. This is our first year in our home and we didn't know what to expect, but even with the blinds closed, the room was hot in the Florida sun. We decided to try this. We were nervous about how it would look. We didn't want a mirror look on the outside even though woods are behind us. We also didn't want the windows to be too dark. We are very happy with how it looks. My pictures show three windows with film for comparison, all windows with film and then the outside. There is a reflection outside, but it doesn't look mirrored. There is more of a reflection inside than before. As far as helping with the heat, it really has made a big difference. I still close my blinds until the early afternoon, but there is not hear pouring out of them like before. I probably could leave them open, but I am trying to save on my electric bill. The room is quite cool now with the film and the blinds closed in the morning. We also put a film on the kitchen window. I don't like it as well there because it is a small window and it definitely looks darker. It keeps the heat out though. Also, that window has a broken seal and the film has made it less noticeable. Installation was pretty easy, but it was a two person job because our windows are large. We ordered three rolls. We are very happy with this product.

It really is as described and like other reviewers, I could not figure out what side was the "outside". But I would like to share how I used this film. I recently moved to the west coast and the house I purchased - a mile from the ocean - has a large "eyebrow" window facing due west. I could not believe how hot the sun coming through this "eyebrow" would make the large open room. As an experiment I placed one of my moving paper blankets over the "eyebrow" and there was an incredible difference in temperature. I had to figure out a way to block the sun. So I read the reviews on this film. What no one mentioned and I discovered is that you can actually "stitch" the film to a sheer fabric. I laid a sheer curtain down and used the film as a "liner". I used Velcro to attach the film, and then realized I needed to anchor the film better due to weight and discovered it was very easy to stitch through the film and attach it to the curtain fabric with a few anchoring stitches. I hung it up as an experiment by nailing it to the walls of the window. Living in an upscale neighborhood I knew I would get major dissatisfaction from neighbors if I had attached this as a film directly to the window, but by using it as a lining, the film "drapes". I get the benefit of it blocking sunlight without the negativity of it being adhered to the window to the distraction of my neighbors. So far a big thumbs up. It dramatically reduced the heat in the room while allowing the light to shine through. NOTE: doing what I did, it's a rather bluish tint behind the sheer but not dislike-able at all.

You guys gotta get this stuff! My husband and I put this together and installation is EASY. It just takes patience. Film is not cheap. It has accidentally rolled on me a few times and never stuck to itself. I would stick with the “Dark” option and not darkest if you still want to have some light. As soon as it was placed on our window, it immediately cut out 80% of the heat. Long over due!!! Will be buying more to install on all of my windows. I could go on and on!!!!! In the photo left side windows have tint and the right side do not.

BuyDecorativeFilm clearly does not have the quality control capabilities to run an average business. I ordered two units of exactly the same tint films from the same webpage; one in 50 feet and one in 100 feet. When the tint is first rolled up in the box and delivered, an average person does not know the difference in shade (5%, 15%, 20%, etc.), when they are rolled up, they all look practically the same. However, after you install these on windows or in my case, very expensive 4 feet by 8 feet clear acrylic pieces (18 pieces at $250 each), they were clearly completely different type of tints with different colors, shade, and reflective qualities. This resulted in a huge cost of money and huge waste of time to remove and try to find the right tint as initially purchased from BuyDecorativeFilm. I even called their customer service number and they simply stated, Sorry, there's no storefront you can come in to, however, we can send you samples of our films so you can try to match it. And that it will take two weeks. That's a bit ridiculous isn't it? In addition to this, after attempting to go with another tint manufacturer entirely, they let me know that all manufacturers make their tints a little differently and it would be nearly impossible to find an exact match of the film from BuyDecorativeFilm. So if you purchased a film from BDF, good luck trying to ever match it, as they send you completely different shades, colors, reflective qualities, on the same item purchase. My recommendation is to find a better manufacturer of film/tint like 3M that you can count on providing the same tint at least, and to stay away from this one called BuyDecorativeFilm.

I wanted window film that could go on the outside of the window and the website indicated that it could be used that way but the packaging said otherwise. Even more troubling was the package information that indicated that the only way to remove it was with a heat gun! Totally unsuitable for my needs
