I bought this for our trip to Europe. It is the perfect size to throw in your bag and go. Very light and so well made. It’s leather- looks classy and the pieces go in the zip and it just rolls up so nice!!Can’t wait to keep using it for picnics and even every day out and about.

Certainly a unique design as far as travel sets go. It's well made - real suede - and its small dimensions when rolled up definitely make it suitable for packing.My only reservation is the white paint used for the squares. It's can obviously be scratched if roughly treated, although it has yet to happen. Probably a bit of touch up paint would set things aright.When open, the playing surface size is a comfortable 8.5 inches square. It's great for analysis and working problems. I really like this set.

The media could not be loaded.  This was one of two roll up travel boards I found on this platform that looked decent. All other roll up travel chess games cost over $90 on Etsy, and while they look beautiful this one works just the same.Plus it’s small as heck. It rolls up as small as those travel artist cases that holds pens and whatnot.Quality is great. The suede fabric feels premium and so do the button enclosures. They don’t feel like they’ll break anytime soon.The white squares on the actual board look painted on, like if they might peel in the future judging by other reviews, but I don’t see that happening any time soon. If it does I’ll update the review.Either way, this is worth the money. Feels like an $80 item rather than a $35 item (what I paid).It’s ALMOST perfect. If the board was magnetized it would be 100% perfect - hopefully they make a magnetized version but that may be wishful thinking.This is perfect for travel. We use it occasionally on date night when we go to a local lounge because we can sit at a private table and play. Definitely taking this during plane travels and other trips.Makes a great gift for fellow chess/checkers lovers. I do wish it came with extra pieces, but for now it’s great.

Good board. I previously bought the backgammon version of this and liked it so much that I decided to pick up the chess/checkers board as well. The suede is good quality and chips have a nice weight to them. I've gotten several compliments on both of my boards. The only improvement I would suggest for the chess/checkers version is that the pieces do not fill the storage compartment completely, so they shift around quite a bit and are kind of a mess when you unzip it again. This could be easily fixed with some kind of foam insert to take up the extra space. I will likely do something like that myself, but would be nice if they put a bit more thought into it out of the box. Otherwise, this has been a great buy and I'd definitely recommend it.

All chess players have idiosyncratic preferences for boards and pieces, so this roll-up suede board with disc-pieces will strike some folks as sacrilege, esp'ly the traditional solid-wood Staunton folks. However, if you are less focused in your taste, this is an excellent travel and convenience set-up. The suede board is attractive, well-made, and stable when rolled out, and the pieces after a bit of getting used to are not off--putting at all. Now, I use this set as my regular one, pulling it out with friends or just to try something out on my own.

Love love love this travel chess. I wanted something to be small and portable and this is exactly what I needed. Something that looks modern and great and also makes it enjoyable to play. Have taken this around everywhere from planes to picnics. Also love the leather feel.

Quality item. Travels well. I had to air out the suede board for a few days, outside, because the new leather smell was too strong. It smelled like mildew, but it did dissipate in the open air outdoors. The board unrolls nicely for play. I love the storage compartment for the pieces.

The squares are a lot smaller than I thought they would be, I guess I should have read the description a little closer. It is nice!

This was used on a recent trip overseas by my partner and I we love this set and it’s very well made and from great materials.
