Albizia Summer Chocolate Purple Mimosa Tree Seeds!

This went very well
As a novice tree-grower I had excellent results with these seeds. All of them germinated. Two seedlings are struggling, but the others are faring quite well. I can confirm Heather Knapp’s suggestion to “scarify” these seeds on both ends. I used a nail file and rubbed each end five to six times until the husk was lightly breached, then soaked them all in a small plastic container of warm water for a few days (in the sunshine) until I saw them break through. Planted them in high quality starting soil and container mix (both worked well). I was surprised considering that, typically, only a percentage of just about any planted seed will reach maturity. The old rhyme from the Middle Ages goes, “One for the rook, one for the crow, one to rot, and one to grow.”

Most seeds didn’t germinate
The seeds that germinate die after planted outside

Scarify seeds and they will grow:)
Mimosa seeds can be very successful if you scarify the seed. I typically put a piece of folded duct tape or double sided tape on cutting surface. Run your razor blade or knife across the seed several times, taking care not to cut them in half. Plant them and your germination goes up substantially:)

Apparently hard to grow
I was really looking forward to these mimosa trees but the seed would never sprout. I spent almost $13 for five seeds that were not any good, which is a shame. Can’t find them at any nursery around home town.

None germinated
Received 8 seeds, none germinated. Soaked and scored them as suggested in previous reviews.
