Counted Cross Stitch Bookmark Kit - Orangery - Cream Background

I liked working on this piece. Backing took a few extra steps. I live reading and will enjoy using this hand made bookmark.

This is an elegant piece. Very silky aida cloth. I love the green tassel (an unexpected surprise that was not listed online). The felt backing gives it a clean finished appearance. I also really enjoyed the background story of Louis XIV’s orangery in 1685 Versailles.Since the project is worked with 3 strands of floss (plus the felt backing), the bookmark is a bit bulky. I tried working it with 2 strands, but the color wasn’t as rich... so back to three! It also annoys me that the pattern can’t be centered on the bookmark. It would need one more or one less stitch in the pattern. But I’m a bit of a perfectionist. I chose to backstitch the windows over 2-3 stitches to give the design a smoother look. Overall, it is a lovely piece. I keep walking through the room just to look at it!

I enjoyed completing this bookmark and it made a nice Christmas present for a relative. I will order more of these kits to give as gifts as the finished product is very detailed and impressive. It was time consuming to complete, but the colors were easy to sort and the directions were clear. Comes with a nice felt backing and a pre-made tassel.

I am enjoying making this product. It comes with a tassle which it does not show in the photo. The backing looks like it might be tricky to sew on. I hope to use it when it is finished.

Easy cross stitch, very effective design, beautiful result. You can't go wrong with heritage designs. It made a lovely gift.x
