Useful, Compact, Long-Lived, Durable Light
I got the Orcatorch D530 1500 Lumens in July and have been primarily diving with it in cold water kelp forest environments with variable visibility. I have really enjoyed using this light and find the brightness and narrow beam very helpful for cutting through sometimes terrible visibility. I also dove with a buddy who was using it on a night dive with sub-5 ft visibility, and the lights were the only thing keeping our buddy group together. The cycling of lumen strength with repeated hits of the main button make it easy to downgrade brightness if necessary. I have found the narrow focused beam to be helpful particularly when looking into cracks and crevices to check out cryptic species. The USB-C port that directly charges the battery was unexpected, but it certainly cuts down on gear needed for travel and plastic parts, so that's a pro in my book. The battery life seems to be pretty good, too. I can use it for at least 4 intensive volunteer dives (looking specifically for invertebrate species) without needing to charge in between. It could probably last longer, but I haven't pushed it yet. The light that I received was a little banged up with external scratches, but that was more of a function of the Amazon packaging/reshipping process than the light function itself. I have had one other Orcatorch in the past which I used for about 5 years before it finally flooded. I have been very satisfied with the quality and durability of Orcatorch products in the past.

Orcatorch D530, great "every dive" light or overhead environment backup light
I recently purchased the Orcatorch D530 as a backup light for overhead environment diving. I prefer a light I can use hands free for my primary light, so I didn't use this light much. I liked this one because it was roughly equivalent to my regular "every dive" light. I always carry a 1200-ish lumen light on me. Wether it's in my pocket, or in my hand I always have a light. Something compact is nice for OC dives, to toss in a pocket, or hang from a D-ring. This light is nice and compact, yet functional with 2 brightness settings. My regular light has 4 settings, but that is a little overkill in my opinion. High or low is what I'm usually going for depending on the conditions. The thing that attracted me to this light was the lock feature. I have gotten out of the water in the desert with my other light for a surface interval and had the light turn on in my pocket. The D530 will lock if you hold the button till the light flashes twice. These 1200-1300 lumen lights get hot in your pocket if you accidentally turn them on. I travel a lot, so a light I can lock is nicer than a light I have to remove the battery from. In my pictures, you will see the light on the right is my old Big Blue, trusty AL1200...which does not lock. The Orcatorch D530 on the left is a lower price offering with great build quality and a lockout feature and easily the brightness equivalent. I would suspect this light's switch would need to be flushed out after a salt water dive, like any other light, but I recently dove to 250 ffw and the light continues to work. It is rated below that, but switches can be a problem at those depths. I did not have a switch problem, however in those conditions this light is for backup only and not generally turned on. I didn't get a chance to try it, but next time I'm diving in the Great Lakes, I will! I have a couple of Orcatorch lights now, and will likely get another as they come out with newer generations with more power and features. A side note. This light came with an 18650 Li-Ion battery with a USB micro connector cable to USB A type connection. When lights come with chargers, they tend to be bulky and regular electrical plug connectors. I have been depending upon USB type adapters for some time when traveling, and I like this light-weight option. I have seen these batteries before, but now Orcatorch seems to be shipping with them, and I'm a fan. A few cables, versus bulky chargers is welcome for me.

Great light, powerful, robust, small and easy to use.
The Orcatorch D530 light is one to do it all, great output to be useful during daytime dives, looking under ledges, nukes and crannies, searching for lobsters, wreck diving and more than suitable for night dives. It has a whiter tone than the D570 (also fantastic light), a nice focused beam to use as communication and call attention from your buddy, with just the right amount of spill to illuminate the surroundings without blinding the diver with too much backscatter. The light comes with a 18650 rechargeable Li-ion battery, it provides nearly 2 hours of burn time to its 1500 lumen high mode, or over 3 hours on low setting, protected by triple oring and the provided USB-C cable plugs right into the battery with a charging light indicator, very convenient. It also comes with spare o rings, a wrist lanyard and a great padded travel case. The light body features a very sturdy attachment point to those who prefer to attach a bolt snap, perfectly centered on the “tail”. Operation is very straightforward, one magnetic switch, single press toggles through the 3 modes, high/low/SOS, with a press and hold to lock and prevent accidental activation, this makes for a safe backup and everyday use, I have mine attached by a bolt snap to my BCD and it stays on my gear always, I do guided dives for a living and use it every day, either to communicate with the costumers and show interesting things hidden in the shadows during daytime dives, I charge it about once a week. The attached video shows it being used during the day(anything can appear bright at night), in less than 30ft of water with plenty sunlight and lots of particulate in the water, it demonstrates well its ability to cut through the silt and illuminate the subject without too much backscatter, filmed with GoPro next to the D530, no filters. It gives a pretty good idea how well it’d perform on night dives, if it’s this powerful during the day with so much sunlight, imagine how good it does in complete darkness. I’m overall very happy with this light, the ratio of quality to cost can’t be beaten, very versatile, highly recommended, you won’t be disappointed.

Amazing! Best light I ever bought.
I purchased this light right before a trip to the Bahamas. I bought it primarily as a backup light to my expensive bulky canister light. But quickly found it to be a better option to use as a primary light. Simply because of the fact it was small. Easy to store. And just as bright as my primary. The narrow beam made it great for cutting through the water like a scissors through paper. After reading multiple reviews online I figured I would bite the bullet and see what this little light had to offer. When I received the light in the mail I was quick to open the package. It was very well packaged and I noticed that the light was very well built. The aluminum housing, the rechargeable battery, the extra lube and o-ring were a bonus. The light came to me charged but I threw a charge on it just to be safe as I was leaving for my trip. Once we did our first night dive I realized I might as well have left my canister at home. Not once did I use my canister light. I chose this little guy as my primary for the trip. It was everything I had needed and not once the whole trip did I need to charge the battery. I did a total of three night dives for close to an hour a piece. I couldn't believe how nice this light functioned. Between dives I stored it in my BCD pocket. Tucked away, yet easily accessible. I was a little concerned that the salt water might have some effect on the light. I am usually a freshwater diver so salt worries me at times. But to my amazement it worked flawlessly without any issues. At depth or out of the water. I could see this light being used for many things. It's rugged design. Bright LEDs. And size make it a very versatile light. I will be purchasing another light simply to have as a backup to my backup. Never in a million years did I think something so powerful could come in something so small. I would highly recommend this to every diver to have in their arsenal of equipment. I will definitely be looking at other orca lights in the future. This is a brand that is going to make it big in the diving industry. Guaranteed.

Incredible form factor and power.
This is the second OrcaTorch that I own. I bought it as a backup to my ZD710 which I love, however the D530 is quickly becoming my primary light for daytime dives. Why? Because it is small, lightweight, and POWERFULL. It has two modes - low and full power. The full power mode is sharp, focused, and bright. I find myself using it on full power for the entire dive. Unlike it's bigger brother, the beam cannot be focused or expanded, but honestly the sharp directed beam of the D530 is amazing to pinpoint areas under corals and to shine into caves. For night dives, my primary light is the ZD710, but the D530 is also with me as a backup light mounted on my underwater scooter. We usually dive two dives a day and by the end of the second dive the battery indicator is a steady red indicating about 25% battery left. The battery power is sufficient for the two dives a day that I do (about 1.75 hours of dive time). Charging the battery is easy as the battery itself has a USBC connection and it will accept any USB C cable. The battery port is located midway, behind the LED's - which I believe is a significant improvement over other torches where the battery port is at the rear of the torch. I believe the design will lead to fewer flooding incidents as having a rear cap can lead to accidental flooding mid-dive as you handle the torch. Overall OrcaTorch has a winner with the D530. Long battery life, powerful, lite, and strong. I am picking up a second one for my wife.

Nice light but not a tight 8 degree beam
This is a quality light and it should be very durable. It's also small and easy to store in a pocket. I really like the option to reduce the brightness when appropriate for water conditions or wildlife. While the main beam (hot spot) may be 8 degrees, the corona or spill around the main beam is quite wide (perhaps 50 degrees). This seller's ZD710 MK2 is much more focused when set to the same main beam width. Don't get me wrong, I like this little light. It's just not a tight narrow beam. The locking feature on the power button is a nice touch. I did have a bit of difficulty executing the two rapid clicks to unlock it while wearing drysuit gloves, but I imagine I'll get better at it with more practice. One thing that is a little bit of a letdown, the light only comes with one rechargeable battery whereas the other lights I have purchased from this vendor came with two. It's not a huge deal, but having a spare on-hand is really nice. On the other hand, the battery has a built-in USB-C charging port, so recharging the battery is fast and easy. I plan to keep this light in my pocket as a backup for my primary light.

Orcatorch D530 has a superior power-to-weight/size ratio in its 18650 class.
At 1300 lumens in a compact 18650 form, this Orcatorch D530 flashlight makes the perfect recreational primary light, an overhead/cavern primary or backup light, or a cave backup light. It has a superior power-to-weight/size ratio than any competitor in its class. The perfectly-sized 8-degree beam angle is well-suited for overhead conditions and is the recommended beam angle. Most divers in overhead conditions are following the trend to shy away from anything that is ten degrees or more because of too much spillover from the spotlight and inability to see signaling from behind, so Orcatorch’s 8-degree beam provides the most beautiful, perfect spotlight with just the right amount of diffused light around it to see where you are going. In an open-water environment, its small size and powerful punch is handy when swiftly exiting a pocket or even more swiftly detaching from your BCD via a bolt snap hooked to a D-ring, to see life under rocks and in crevices. To conserve battery power, i.e., for a long, shallow, recreational night dive, there is a lower setting of 380 lumens. Thoughtful design includes the following: Battery (18650) has a built-in charging port eliminating the need for a separate charger; Rugged alloy case looks and feels great, and the ribbing on both sides of the magnetic power switch provides a non-slip gripping surface for the thumb and forefinger that is very comfortable to hold for long periods of time if the hand tires of wrapping the palm and all fingers around the circumference of the light’s shaft without using the thumb and forefinger as “pinchers;” The orange ring, in addition to making a stunning fashion statement, actually provides additional grip/traction between the fourth finger and the base of one’s palm near the wrist; and An extremely useful battery indicator light that is built into the center of the magnetic switch. Many competitor lights have worthless battery indicators because they fail to advise of battery status until it is “too late.” Importantly, not the D530. With different colors that start their indication when power falls to 30% and below, you have ample warning in the following progression: green-orange-red-flashing red. I very much like the locking on/off magnetic switch that operates with precision (and locks out the light from being accidentally turned on). I have tired of rotating/twist switches because they inevitably get sand granules in them and eventually no longer turn to activate. There is far less possibility of this happening with a magnetic switch and moreover, the magnetic switch, because of its size as compared to the larger circumference of a twist switch, inherently outperforms a twist switch in this regard. Photos displayed are self-explanatory except for the two photos that each display two beams. The left is of my older-era, 18650 battery light as compared to the D530 on the right on both its high and low settings. Incredibly, the D530 on both its high and low output settings far outperforms my dive light of the same physical size, same battery size, but which has an older-era LED than the D530. This is stunning and unequivocal proof of the D530’s power to weight ratio. In sum, Orcatorch has set the new standard for size, power to weight ratio, beam angle, ergonomics, durability, and price with its offering of the D530.

Powerful compact secondary light
The ORCATORCH D530 Dive Light was delivered in a timely manner inside a protective shipping pouch. See the picture to show the contents inside. The wrist lanyard and extra o-rings were a nice touch. The package came with a mini USB charger but did not include the wall charger. This is the first time I had seen a rechargeable battery with the actual charging port built right near the top of the positive terminal. I had to wiggle the micro USB inside of the battery as the initial tolerance for the insert was a bit too small. I hope after multiple charges, the port stays snug when accepting the micro USB inside. The attached picture shows the red light on the battery to indicate charging. The green light displayed after the full charge was reached. The initial charge took about 5 hours. The light has two settings of high (1,050 lumens) and low (220 lumens). I dove with the light for an initial 2 tank test. I left the light on high for both. The first dive was 58 minutes, the second was 55. For dive one, the light performed better in darker conditions at 90 feet. The hull of the wreck displayed well. I would not use this light for penetration but this is my personal preference. It performed well to point out items of interest and to indicate to the group my whereabouts. The water visibility was about 50 feet. The light performed well up to about 20-26 feet, beyond that the surrounding sunlight light bleached out its effects. For the second dive at 65 feet with viz at 60", the ORCATORCH D530 Dive Light, did well. Since there was a lot more natural light, the range of the light as a pointer was diminished to about 15-22 feet. The light worked excellent under ledges to highlight shrimp, arrow crabs, worms, slugs, etc. I did not notice any degradation of light output since I had used it for just about two hours. If you are new to diving or want an inexpensive loaner, then this light is for you. If you have a heavy alternative light that might affect your trim, this light would be an excellent alternative. The exterior materials seem solidly built. I liked the triple o-ring on the metal threads to prevent flooding. The switch to turn the light on high/ low/ off is located in a usable area. The battery level indicator light is a nifty idea but I would not be caught using a light at the red/ 30% remaining life but would abort the dive if the level of light output was diminishing. The ORCATORCH D530 Dive Light is a good overall buy. I am satisfied with the purchase for a light that is less than $100.

Tolle Lampe
