I highly recommend that you purchase this book and practice what's inside!
So, you're interested in getting a better understanding on Shaolin Kungfu. This book really opened my mind from what I had previously believed to be Shaolin. I am a Zen Buddhist, who has long been interested in understanding more about the various martial arts. I thought this book might give me decent insight into the practices of Shaolin Kungfu, and help expand on the core principles of why it has sustained into our present world. This book very much illustrates that. The step by step instructions are deeply informative and have helped open my eyes to the connection between my mind and body. I've been practicing as I go, and I've eased into trying to improve on the form and force of the moves illustrated.I originally just wanted an opportunity to open my mind to the practices of Shaolin monks and masters. This book I feel has me very excited to learn more. I just recently purchased the authors book on Tai Chi Chuan in an attempt to further understand these great practices. If you're on the fence because of the price, if you're truly passionate about self-betterment and understanding more about the history, practices, and grandeur of the Shaolin Arts. I suggest you purchase this book.

Beautiful book
Mr. Wong did an excellent job presenting the history, philosophy and a well thought out selected set of techniques the reader can follow and practice. Shaolin was known to educate monks in philosophy, medicine and martial arts according to the Bubishi and Master Wong did a great job elaborating on each of these categories. Especially interesting were the beautiful poems, songs and anecdotes that were written at Shaolin. His emphasis was on the development of the practitioner and did a terrific job with a very interesting prose style to note this several times. I liked this book very much and hope others who are interested in the finer aspects of martial arts will also take time to read it. Congratulations Mr. Wong!

Anything written and presented by Wong Kiew Kit deserves a five-star rating, whatever it is. His vast knowledge of the Shaolin traditions and methods, both soft and hard, plus his profound insights into the more esoteric side of life (mainly but not always from a Buddhist point of view) completes a broad spectrum of existence that goes beyond the combat techniques of Shaolin. Also included are some practical Chi Kung health exercises that can be performed by beginners, and explanations of others that are more advanced with suitable cautions.

Much more than kung fu
A very good books that is well written and is as valuable for it's non-fighting sections as it is for the kung fu parts (which are very confusing to follow). The overall concept of Shaolin training is very well presented, as is how everything works together - fighting, breathing, meditation, health etc.

A Shaolin Master
This is an excellent book for anyone who practices qi gong, kung fu or meditation, Buddhism, and who is interested in the Shaolin Temple. Reading the book is like having a Shaolin Master for your own personal teacher.

Not an intruction book
This book contains some interesting information on Shaolin history and practices. I was hoping to use it to supplement my training but it is definitely not writen to be used as a training manual. There are some pictures which show basic stances and a few sequences. However the photos are not clear and there are not instructions for the sequences. I have found this to be a common thread in the Wong Kiew Kit books published by Cosmos. The books published by Tuttle have been much more thorough. I recomend this book if you would like an understanding of what is involved in Shaolin training, philosophy, and history, Not if you wish to learn it.

Excellent Treatise
I put this on a par with Mr. Kit's other book, "The Complete Book of Tai Chi Chuan." In fact, it was the latter book that led me to purchase this one - and I wasn't disappointed. His writing is clear, easy to understand and very educational.
