Q: Without any modifications, can I drop fit this into a late 90s Mexican Strat?

No no and no. Unless that Strat is routed for a Floyd Rose and has Floyd Rose studs. Not will if fit a Les Paul, or a Chevy , or a Boeing. With mods it might fit a Tesla. Bottom line — it only fits a guitar that already has a Floyd Rose, or a guitar that you plan to (stupidly) modify for Floyd Rose.

Q: Does the floyd rose special use hardened steel for the baseplate or is it zinc alloy as well?

From what I found out it is steel but not made in Germany.

Q: Will this work on Les Paul or PRS SINGLECUT

On the PRS IF IT has a trem with a whammy bar, yes it will work but routing would have to be done in order for the Floyd Rose to fit properly, my advice is adding a Floyd Rose to either of these guitars requires a serious professional Luthier to do the customisations and that can be quite expensive, so do your research and find a Luthier who is Qualified and I think if you can afford the procedure, I would say go for it on the PRS, the Les Paul job could end up costing more than what you paid to purchase the guitar, good luck and Aloha
