Inconsistent Product Between Sellers
The product is perfect IF you get the product pictured.I originally purchased this cable selecting 'cablemart' as the seller. I did not receive the product in the picture. Instead, I received a cable manufactured by Monoprice. The Monoprice cable has a heavier gauge cable and a huge Mini DisplayPort connector. The connector is so big that it obstructs the USB port on a Macbook Pro. Another issue, is that the Monoprice cable causes problems with sleeping my monitor. It will go to sleep and then wake back up repeatedly.I sent a message to cablemart about my issue and they quickly replied with an offer to refund a couple bucks for my trouble. I think that's good customer service on their part.I found out that 'Cable Matters' ships the product in the pictures. I received it in a couple days and it was perfect. The Mini DisplayPort connector is exactly like the one on Apple brand adapters. It doesn't obstruct the USB port and my monitor sleep properly with this cable.I rated this product 5 stars because it's perfect as long as you get the product in the photos. You may want to check with the seller before confirming your order.

Doesn't work with Thunderbolt connector
This seems like a well made cable, particularly for the price. It worked perfectly with my Core2Duo MacBook and Samsung display. For this application alone, I would give it a 5 star rating. However, since I upgraded to a 2011 15" MacBook Pro with the new Thunderbolt port, I haven't been able to get it to work at all. I've had to go back to using the Apple mini Display Port to DVI adapter with a DVI cable. This works, but is clunky compared to the sleek design of this cable. Today's Thunderbolt firmware update hasn't fixed the issue, but I hope that Apple does eventually resolve it.

Worked well before it broke
This cable worked well w/ no flickering from my Mac Book Pro to my Samsung Monitor. looked clean and cord was high quality. However, the part that plugs into the computer is pretty long (about 2.5 to 3 inches) and it twisted the wrong way while it was plugged in and I think I broke a solder inside the display port end of the cable. I can't say i recommend this cable because of the broken solder and also it blocks a USB right beside the Display port on my Pro.

Low quality but it works.
I bought this to replace a display port adapter that stopped working. The cable feels cheap. The DVI connector is made of a very low grade plastic. If you bump it on the display port side, the image will flicker out. Otherwise it seems to do the job. I don't have a lot of faith that it will work for very long, but we'll see. I probably wouldn't buy it again.

Ordered 4, All of them Were Defective
I purchased a few of these: 6Ft Mini DisplayPort to DVI Male Adapter Cable for Apple Macbook, Macbook Pro, iMac, Macbook Air, Mac Mini Laptop and they worked just fine, I was pleased to replace the need to buy both a dongle adapter and a DVI cable with this simple cable. I went back to Amazon to order more and saw these for more of a discount than the others so I ordered 4, I guess you get what you pay for.Unfortunately these cables aren't the same quality (the only discernable visual difference between the two products is the shape of the DVI connector), all 4 of these cables have bad connections that result in a flickering display that blinks "snow" over part or all of the display every few seconds, I tried and reproduced this on 2 different displays and laptops. Needless to say I was surprised and very disappointed that all 4 items failed to work reliably.

Great price, but it didn't work for me
I ordered this to connect my 13" aluminum Macbook to an HP 20" monitor (S2031). I tried everything to get my computer and monitor to recognize each other using this cable and it didn't work. Eventually, I went out and bought the Apple brand mini-display port adapter for $30 and used the VGA cable that came with the monitor -- the monitor and Macbook instantly recognized one another and started working. So, as much as I wanted to save $40 and connect my monitor with just one cable, it didn't work for me and I ended up having to go out and buy the separate Apple mini-display port to DVI adapter and a DVI cable. It could have just been my computer and monitor, but be cautious in trying to go the cheaper route here, it may end up being a waste of time and money.

Does everything as expected.
This is a passive adapter from Mini Display Port to DVI.In most situations, passive will be sufficient. The scenarios which require an Active adapter are for very specific features - multi-monitor setups, etc.The 6-foot length makes it not ideal for a Desktop setup, because if you set the computer on the ground, you probably will need more than 6 feet to reach your table. The length of this cable makes this the perfect cable for newer laptops that have removed the VGA output and put a mini-DP slot instead. Almost all of these laptops can send a DVI signal through a mini-DP slot, so a passive adapter will work perfectly. This is also a digital signal so theoretically, it should be more clear than the VGA (purple colored connector). This works on Apple Macbook Pros, and was a lot cheaper than the Apple Store alternative. There is no difference between this one and the hilariously overpriced mini-DP to DVI cables that the Apple store tries to sell.

Too wide for Mac Mini
The cable works but it's too wide when you have an HDMI cable plugged in next to it . . . I wanted to use this to power a second monitor and it doesn't work for that. The cable works fine but the mini-display port plug should be thinner . . .
