Le Veneziane - Italian Ditalini Pastina [Gluten-Free], (4)- 8.8 oz. Pkgs

I do all the cooking for my household. So, while I personally do not have an allergy or intolerance to wheat I cook a lot of gluten-free products for those in our family that do. This pasta was fantastic! We regularly by gf spaghetti, elbows, fettuccine, and penne from the big box stores and have had plenty of success. I wanted to change up the pasta shape and decided to order the ditalini as a replacement in a recipe that called for orzo. It cooked up a little bigger than expected but it was perfect for the dish. I like to undercook my pasta a bit and add it to whatever sauce (especially red sauces) to finish. I was able to perfectly do that with this pasta - no gumminess, no falling apart…it was great! There is a light corn flavor that comes through but it’s not noticeable once other flavors are added. I am going to try this in a pasta salad to see how it performs in a cold application, but I have high hopes since it’s already performed so well. I am so intrigued that I now need to try all the other pasta shapes offered by Le Veneziane. And at this price for 4 boxes, I will order again and again.

Great for soup

Was looking for gluten-free ditalini or annelini, but was initially hesitant to purchase this as the pasta is all corn. My experience with other corn pastas has not been great. This corn pasta is amazing! We tried the pasta several different ways. First was in soup, which delighted everyone who tried it -- young and old. Next was a "Spaghetti-Os" style dish for a couple very special kids. It met with their approval. It made for a wonderful variation on pasta salad -- the small ditalini added some interesting texture. And finally, we used it to cook a family favorite recipe that I haven't been able to cook in a few years. The recipe blends minced bits of meats and vegetables in a flavorful preparation that is then tossed with the ditalini. This is the first gluten-free pastina I have found that truly does the recipe justice. Strongly recommended -- I'll definitely be buying this again!

Pasta cooks to a perfect al dente, so you don't miss the gluten. It's the only gluten free pasta I can find that won’t fall apart in reheated soup.

Best soup pasta ever!!

My family loves our pasta, so when a member of our family had to go gluten free, we were really concerned about having to make 2 different side dishes. Many gluten free flour products on grocery shelves have terrible texture or taste. Le Veneziane saved the day. We actually think it may be better than our semolina wheat paste. One issue: we eat a lot of pasta and it's quite expensive. Unfortunately, that has caused us to buy it for our gluten free member, but still cook the wheat product for the remainder of the family.

Love this pasta just wish that it was more readily available and a more reason able price as well as more pasta per order. Shipping is getting a bit rough as the boxes are mangled in shipping process. (envelope vs box)
