Incredible results!
I had read the positive reviews with skepticism, but at that point was ready to try anything to help control the dense bacterial bloom and dino algae growth. It had gotten so bad one could hardly see the fish! (sorry I didn't take a before photo..) I hooked this device inline with my Fluval filter (did have to get a new hose and connectors) but once turned on, it took only 24 hours to start seeing a difference! The bacteria bloom is almost gone; I'm hoping the dino's start disappearing soon.

Nice and easy
product arrived in good condition saved money buying from amazon warehouse deals , box was rough but who cares UV light looks like new . I Have used the "green killing machine : which was my intro into UV sterilization . but that was kinda under powered compared to this unit . 15 watts of sterilization VS 7 watt means Your killing bad germs as well as algae . I got tired of replacing the unit every 8 months so I took a chance and Got this . I was wondering how in the world I was going to install this . Well on my Fluval 207 it was not all that bad . I just bought new fluval hose and 2 rubber adapters. Look on this page that lists the AquaUltraviolet UV light it is mid way down ( all all three to cart) I used no special adaptors other then what I listed above . I figured to just run all new hoses anyway . Turns out that was a smart move as my old hoses were gunked up with crud . Doing that brought back lost flow ! I just ran the hoses and zip tied the unit to my stand . Tip for You , soak the Fluval adaptors in hot water before hand . Makes the job way easier . I have only had this installed a few hours but if the green killing machine worked ok this should do even better and it is made in the USA If problems arise I edit my review

Great for fishtank water sterilization
The unit was a pain in the ars to get hose and adapters to fit after my eheim pump, as the hang-on side version is easier to install for eheim tubing. Yet this is a huge benefit for my fish tank, as it is strong enough to kill parasites/bacterial diseases as well as algae. My water is perpetually crystal clear, more so than even new tank water , without even the tiny particulates. It looks like the water was polished and of high clarity. The only dowmfall is that the water clarity MISLEADS YOU into thinking the water is clean and not need water changes... YOU NEED TO MAINTAIN water changes so the amonia build up won't happen (from fish pissing & waste), plus to stimulate fish growth. You can offset some water maintenance by increased biological filtration, but water changes are just mandatory. Don't let the extreme clarity of the water from this UV fool you.. It's a great product for keeping your fish safe from harmful disease, unlike the weaker UV. Don't buy any UV less watts than this one or you won't gain the benefit of parasite killing UV levels ..

Make sure to read if using for saltwater or reef tanks!
THIS REVIEW IS FOR THOSE WITH SALTWATER OR REEF TANKS. While it might seem tempting to connect this inline with PVC or silicone tubing, you will not get the expected flow rates this unit can provide, even with a larger-than-required pump. This unit will work for algae; however, you will not get the rated 600-700GPH and 30,000um/cm required for effective algae control with this. On a Red Sea Reefer 250 with a Sicce 3.0 pump and using nothing but this item and 5/8 silicone tubing, you'll only get a maximum of 300GPH. While this is very effective for parasite control, as one can dial down the pump, one cannot improve this rating. It is approximately 2m or 6.5 feet of return, aka head pressure, including the UV, and two 90-degree turns on the UV barbs. If you use silicone or any tubing, you'll need to use 5/8 OD with 1/2 ID to ensure the unit does not pull loose of the barb for the return (if you use the barb that the Reefer 250 comes with on older generations). Herein lies the problem. If you use actual PVC plumbing, you'll get the correct rating if you permit at least 5/8 ID to the 3/4 barb on the unit. I tested this by adding a Neptune Apex flow sensor and a Sicce 4.0 pump. I got 370 GPH max in this case. So it's not the UV or the pump; it's the ID and resistance of the constricted tubing the barb needs on the unit.

Worked great for me
I used this UV Sterilizer on my 55 gallon tank with a Cascade 1200 canister filter. Installation was easy, I just connected it to the tank's return line. In just two days it killed the green algae that was floating in my water column. The tank looks crystal clear. Also it is well-constructed and made in the USA. Good product I highly recommended it.

great way to clear up water fast
this product was really nice in the way of clearing up my murky water. I never was able to seem to get the water polished to look good. once I was able to install this UV light, my water cleared up within just a few days. only down side was actually installing this in my outflow line. the inlet and outlet on this unit is sized for 3/4" ID while most standard ID for canister filters is 5/8". so in order to get this unit installed, I had to head over to a plumber supply store and find a bunch of random parts to get from 5/8" up to 3/4", into the unit, then from the 3/4" down to 5/8". it was rather complicated and involved some ingenuity to figure out how to get it to flow correctly and not leak. but once installed correctly, works wonders!
