Fantastic for the fish motivated feline
These freeze dried minnows are the perfect post-pill reward for my big orange cat, who needs occasional rounds for his condition. He doesn't like taking his medicine, but he knows he gets a "smellyfish" (they definitely have a little bit of an odor - they're fish!) when he takes it without giving me a ton of fuss. So he takes his medicine, gets his smellyfish reward, and we're all happy with a healthy kitty. It will absolutely depend on the cat. My tuxie doesn't like these, as they're not little filled niblet treats that he enjoys. You won't know until you try it. Also, it doesn't seem like a lot in the bag for the price, but I promise it is. If I give one every day, my cat still has a couple months of minnows in the bag. Some are tiny, but others are huge. You could reasonably break some up into two or three pieces and still have a good sized treat out of it. Remember they're freeze dried, so the overall weight is far less than if you gave fresh, non-dehydrated minnows. This little bag packs a big punch. I also learned dogs like them too, and have shared the occasional sneaky snack when my friend visits with his puppers, who is a very sweet boy. Totally worth the cost, and every bit as good if you don't have a picky snacker.

Tasty natural cat treats
This is a tale of two cats. One is a prissy housecat, somewhat spoiled, that is all about texture and can be finicky. The other is a junkyard farm cat that will eat anything and everything that moves. The prissy cat enjoys Purebite minnows. She'll graciously eat 3 or 4 of them and is satisfied. Junkyard farm cat goes absolutely nuts over these as if she's eating filet mignon after 3 days of starving. (She's spoiled and eats regularly, no worries. She's leaning on chunky.) What I love is that it is a very simple treat. Freeze-dried raw minnows. Yes, it smells like fish, as it should. It is all the goodness of raw food with little fuss. The minnows are delicate and will crumble easily, so they need to be handled with some care. The crumbles work nicely as cat food toppers. It may seem gross to handle them. It's not so bad. It kind of feels like delicate paper mache sculptures. For the price, it's an excellent treat overall. You get a lot of minnows in a one-ounce bag.

Strong odor but kittens loved them
These were recommended to me by my cat's breeder. She said her cats went crazy for them, so I bought a bag. Well, my cats didn't like them at all. My red tabby turned his nose up at them immediately. When I offered them to my black cat two days later, I gave her these in one pile and her usual treats in another pile. She was interested in these at first. She sniffed them, took a tentative bite, shook her head, and spit it out. Then she saw the pile of her usual treats and immediately ignored these minnows in favor of those. Also, they STINK! They smell like fish food, only stronger. Be sure to hold your breath when opening the bag. ----------- Update: So it turns out some cats really do love these little fish! I didn't throw the bag away despite my two domestic shorthairs disliking it, but when I bought two Turkish Angora kittens, I decided to see what they thought. They LOVED them! I would give them a small pile of treats, and it got to the point that all I had to do was pick up the bag and they'd come running! The bag was gone quickly. I was also at a cat show and noticed a man giving these to his Oriental, who enthusiastically ate them up. Because of the awful smell and the fact my kittens like other treats also, I decided not to buy another bag of these, but it's great to know it's an option if I ever want to buy them something different once in awhile.

Not bad for the money.
I have tried other freeze dried minnows in the past, but I wanted to try these because the price is right and well, they are minnows. *shrugs* I have zero complaints. The smell is a ranky stanky fishy yuckfest, but my cats go nuts for these. I call out โMinnow minnow minnow!โ And they come running and meowing. My black lab even likes these. She got jealous and stared a hole into my soul from around the corner, so I decided to toss her a couple and she wanted more. Well, the cats circled me like sharks in protest because I was feeding their big sister their fishy treats and I had to give them a few extra to make up for my transgression. They are broken up and kinda wonky, but they all end up in the same place, right? The litter box.

My cat liked them at first but not anymore.
Maybe some pets like these sprinkled on top of their food to entice them. The minnow is rather stinky and looks like little fish which would appeal to ferrets perhaps or other small animals as theyโre very tiny. My cat liked them at first, but wonโt eat them anymore. I also got the pure chicken because my cat doesnโt like the smell or taste of liver, I ground it up as a powder to add as a filler to her wet food to add more protein but it still doesnโt seem to be her favorite topper. Perhaps other cats will like this as there are no other ingredients or fillers.

Ah, the consequences of doing anything you can to make (or save) a dollar. My cat is on a raw diet because of some GI issues. I typically get my kitty an expensive brand of freeze-dried minnows. He loves them so much, he blows through them very quickly. I decided to try these out to save some money, because I can't really afford to keep up with the expensive stuff. That was a bad choice on my part - he was almost offended when I offered them the first time, and the second time, he ate some but was, for the most part, disinterested. The quality of this product is not good, to say the least. They seem to be TOO dry to be properly freeze-dried (to save the nutritious value, anyways). They're an odd color, and have a very strong fishy/river scent to them. When you are selling a product like this in such large quantities, how can we expect that it is A. Ethically resourced, B. Not contaminated with other byproducts, and C. Comes from a reliable, healthy source of water? Some of the other photos on here are terrifying, they just go to show that not much care or effort is put into this product. I personally would rather feed my loved one a product from a company that puts care and effort into their product and isn't just worried about making a dollar.

My cat's favorite
My old lady used to love these so much. She would swallow them whole lol so to try to get her to eat them more slowly we broke them into smaller pieces. Sadly she passed away. I donated the rest of the pouch to the shelter so the kitties can enjoy them on her behalf.

Cat Likes Them But So Much Dust
I like Pure Bites treats for my cat, but the issue with a lot of the different flavours, is that the freeze dried treats get crushed into powder during transit (this isn't just an Amazon thing...this happens when I purchase at the pet store too). The cat sized bites are too small I think. I've found that buying the dog sized treats which are exactly the same, only bigger cuts, reduces the risk of your treats becoming a dusty topper for you cat's food. If any of the pieces are too big, I just break them in half. Problem solved.

Disappointed โน๏ธ in my cats!
Iโm trying to get my three cats to kick their Temptations and Party Mix addiction, unfortunately these treats did not do the trick. I have no complaints about the product, it seems decent. Convinced my small dog to eat as heโs a big fan of fish and seafood. So, all is not lost but I probably wonโt order again. Edit: I changed my mind, am ordering again. The dog is nuts about these things. I do break them up as Iโm worry about him choking on them. A few of these minnows encourages him to eat my offerings.

Dusty
These came in an amazon plastic bag. Why do they do that? Other small things come in boxes for no reason. So most of this is dust. I probably won't buy again on amazon as I read others have the same issue. I'll use as a topper. I like to use these for helping to keep teeth clean. Much better than the Temptation treats which are addictive junk food for cats. My cats do love these. Took them a bit to figure out how to eat them as they hadn't had anything hard before. It was funny to watch!

A bit of a fishy smell but that's good!
My very particular cat actually loves these! It took him a bit to figure out how to eat them, though he showed interest straight away because of the smell. He previously lived in a household where he only got Temptations treats and I wanted to get him something with better ingredients and for variety. Thought these looked interesting and you can't really go wrong with PureBites. Once I realized he prefers them to be snapped in half first, he was all about them. I'm happy, he's happy, even the dog loves them haha. Will definitely purchase again!
