Broken Before I Got It
It looks lovely, but the construction was shoddy - the pieces were screwed together and I could tell that this was not Amish or handmade. It uses square-drive screws and the wood is weirdly brittle for something that a person would stand on repeatedly. When I got it, the bottom of one leg was already chipping. Upon closer inspection, I saw that the screws had been set in so tightly that the wood around them was fracturing. This is a construction issue, not a shipping thing. If my g/f had used it as I planned, it would have given out randomly and thrown her to the floor.I guess some things you cannot buy sight unseen.

I really feel like the bad guy giving less than a 5 star ...
I really feel like the bad guy giving less than a 5 star rating to our wonderful Amish creators, but....this stool arrived missing the "plugs" for the holes on one side. Also, although the stool is beautiful and durable, there is just enough overlap of the top piece with the feet that the stool is somewhat unstable, so you have to be very careful to step in the center of the stool, not on an edge. It won't suit the purpose I intended, but will be o.k. for a secondary "decorative" use.

One of the screws needed tightening and I didn't have the right screwdriver
Heavy, well-finished and well packaged. However one of 2 screws holding one set of legs to the top was only partly screwed in and being a square recess screw I had to order a #2 square recess screwdriver to tighten it - hopefully making the uneven crack between support legs and top disappear. I'm guessing it's a #2 (1/8-in) square recess screw but if not I'll need to order a second screwdriver. Hopefully the drill hole isn't too shallow otherwise I'll need to remove the set of legs and re-drill. Given the price of this item one should not have to do this, but it would be a bigger hassle to repackage and return it.

wobbly
Craftsmanship is not up to par, especially for the price! One leg is shorter so it teeters. I'll have to shave down the legs to make it stable. Also one of the screws was loose on one side. Didn't expect to have to work on this stool after spending this much on it. Overall seems to be good quality of wood though.

Sturdy Stool
Exactly as pictured. Very handy to have in my newly renovated kitchen. All the cabinets are to the ceiling and at 5 ft. 8 in. I was unable to reach them! This is easy to lift and makes my life easier! Beautiful wood color and very smooth. A welcome addition to my kitchen and dining room that is sturdy and useful. Gorgeous craftsmanship. It matches my Amish dining room furniture perfectly! Very pleased!

Beautiful stool!
Thank you so much for a sturdy, beautiful stool to use with my old four poster bed. Advancing age was making it difficult for me to get into our beautiful old bed. This stool was obviously made with pride and love. It is solid oak with a nice medium finish. It is wide enough to step up on with both feet and the height is perfect to fit under our old bed. The center hole allows you to pick it up and move it easily. I was afraid I would have to get rid of our bed but I am so happy to have this stool. It makes a perfect stool for grandchildren to reach the bathroom sink, too. This is a high quality product.

Not a Bedside Stool
Bought this to make it easier to get into bed after spine surgery. I found that using it as a step stool was not a good idea as it started tipping when I began to sit on the edge of the bed. It’s probably good to use to stand on, but I wouldn’t recommend it as a bedside stool. It is well made and nice looking and fairly heavy.
