Rather than boosting the signal, you get signal degradation due to the split. Any decent branded product should give specs such as a loss of around 3.5 to 4dB on a reasonable product.

Can you use this to connect a single feed to twin feed Humax box ?

Simple answer is yes, that is exactly what I used it for!! You will need a total of three appropriate leads - your original, the one which comes with this kit, and one more. Since the kits are so inexpensive, I bought 2 kits purely to get the second good quality lead.

I have ordered this item but haven't received a splitter, only a cable. Am I missing something here?

I am very surprised by that - the splitter is quite tiny, about the size of a matchbox, so I politely suggest you recheck the packaging - I bought 2 kits, and both were complete, exactly as shown.
