I work around the water on my boat and around docks often and dropping a socket usually means it is gone forever. These sockets have the detent hole as seen on larger 3/8 and 1/2 sockets. When working around a space where losing the socket may happen I use my driver with a locking pin. The locking pin secures it and wont let go until you depress the pin through the hole with an awl or other small point. Most 1/4 sockets do not have this hole and the socket is at risk of falling off and being lost. The size markings are very visible and the broaching of the sockets seem well made.
