Best all around LED replacement bulb
In a direct side by side comparison with the Philips Endura/Ambient LED, GE EnergySmart and Osram Sylvania (all Energy Star certified), this bulb offered the best balance of light quality, omnidirectional beam uniformity, and aesthetic quality. I have this bulb installed in a table top lamp where it is visible from around the lampshade. My wife and I both prefer the look over the Philips LED bulb (especially in its off-state).The clear lower hemisphere of the bulb housing really let's the light shine downward so that reading a book while sitting next to the coffee table is effortless and comfortable. We had issues with this from other LED bulbs that claimed to be omnidirectional. Also when compared, I preferred the pleasantly warm light that this bulb radiated against the others simply because it was not overly green in its hue. Many LED bulbs we've tried claimed 2700K color temperature but all appeared different when actually installed. I think this is personal preference so each buyer should be aware that not every LED product of the same color specification offers exactly the same light.Last but not least, I tested this LED bulb paired with our Lutron in-wall dimmer and the performance was impressive. I had doubts based on previous experiences with so called "dimmable" LED bulbs and I can honestly say I tried to push this bulb to hum or flicker but to no avail.Personally I would spend the extra ten dollars on an Energy Star LED product simply due to the fact that they are actually life-tested and forced to prove that the performance and lifetime claims are, in fact true and backed by verified test data. I have no desire to waste any more of my time trying anything that inevitable leads to disappointment just because they're cheap.
