Metalsmithing for Jewelry Makers: Traditional and Contemporary Techniques for Inspirational Results

I have been studying jewelry/metalsmithing for a little over a year now and this is by far one of the best resources I have found. Whether you are at my level or more experienced, each topic is built incrementally and if you read this from beginning to end or dig into a specific topic, you will find it has very clear instructions with good practical tips as well as beautiful photographs, including inspirational pieces as well as step by step. Now that I have experienced several instructors as well as purchased too many books on various aspects of jewelry making, I highly recommend this book over other books considered to be bibles in the field but not very appealing to read.

Very well written, understandable with good ideas to motivate you to try new methods to display jewelry you made with basic help. Aids you in building confidence in the making of great quality rings, necklaces and earrings.

A wealth of information

First, it's a very subtantial book. It covers metals from platinum to tin and how to work with each type of metal. Beautifully photographed, projects with great instructions and lots and lots of inspiration.

Pretty good book, depending on what you're looking for. It was a little more 'basic' than I was really looking for, but would be great for someone looking to learn basic techniques.

Got this for my daughter, as a Christmas present. She is getting started into the jewelry making and loved it. Recommended.

I teach jewelry classes. This is a fantastic book! I like to take a page at a time and craft a lesson plan from the page. The book is very well organized and each section is short and to the point.

Jinks McGrath is certainly a preeminent authority on jewelry metal fabrication. The tutorials are clear. This book is definitely a valuable addition to my library.

This is a fabulous hard cover book showing all silversmithing tools, their proper use, and demonstrating many jewellery making projects, with excellent presentation and instruction. From one silversmith to another, I highly recommend this book!!
