set it, shoot it, and its ready! very easy
Finally bought my first time lapse camera and I must say this is a really nice for a fun hobby projects. The clamp and the monopod is really sturdy and easy to use and can be attached to almost anything. You also get the adjustable phone clamp which comes in handy to use with your phone. 5 stars for the clamp and the monopod and the handy carry bag thats included. The camera itself is portable enough to carry with you anywhere. The lens has an F2.0 aperture but this can be changed with the other lens Brinno offers. I have so far only used the lens that came with the camera. I use it mostly for time lapse videos at the beach and from my room overlooking the beautiful Diamond Head crater (Sunrise and sunset) here in Hawaii but the other modes such as step video, still and stop motion are pretty useful too. Like the other reviewer mentioned a reusable batteries would have been handy but it seems like the normal Alkaline battery lasts a very long time so it should not be a concern to most of the users. I did try powering and recording the camera with the USB-C-to-USB cable to a wall adapter when I am using it indoors to save the battery. Right now my wife has set up the camera to shoot one of her flowers blooming which will take some time but we are excited to see how that turns up. We also like the schedule mode shooting for times you want to record at times without manually recording and stopping. The menu/settings needs a little getting used to but you will get the hang of it quickly. You shoot something and the video file is ready on the memory card. Overall for a beginner like me this is a great little device and my wife loves it too! Win win.

Don't buy their Camera Mount, it's flimsy and will break!!!
While the camera films OK, it's difficult to learn how to use it. The Screen turns off almost immediately, so you can't see what you're doing. Also, the Battery Life was NOWHERE NEAR what they claimed. I had to replace them within a week, and i was shooting every dayt Finally, my stand broke within 2 weeks of purchase.. It uses plastic at the most crucial point, where the camera mounts onto it. I asked for a replacement and it was not offered. All i got was a partial refund. I'll use that to buy another mount- one NOT made by Brinno.

Rock solid on two long projects so far
****bought this in 2020. I believe it’s critical to do the firmware update when you receive it or it may not work right. I recall that it took a few attempts to get the update to work so follow instructions carefully. Following that, I bought a 128gig mini SD and mounted the cam inside the enclosure up in a tree for two constriction projects. The first build lasted almost a year. Every two weeks or so I’d climb a ladder and pull out the SD card, get the footage, and replace the batteries. I think the batteries and SD would have gone quite a bit longer but I didn’t want to lose any days. Today I finished the footage on the second build. Both times the cam worked flawlessly. Crisp time lapse footage!

So Far, Very Happy
I'll update when I've played more, but so far, I'm pretty impressed. The instructions could be a bit easier, but if your buying this camera, I suspect your a but tech savvy and should be able to figure it out. What I've learned from reading review and my 3 day experience. 1. READ and FOLLOW this instruction. Format your SD Card, and install the firmware update which is easily found on Brinnos web page. 2 . About the SD Card: As I read from another reviewer, the Brinno description is very misleading. Yes you get an SD card, but its 8gb. Enough to learn and play with, but not enough for a big project. For $600.00, I would have liked to see a 128gb card included. I was aware of this ahead of time from a review, so I bought one at the time of purchase. If I'm buying a $600 camera, $25 more isn't going to break the bank. 3. Buying an SD card for your camera: Not all SD cards are created equal. I found this out the hard way in my GoPro Days. Do yourself a huge favor, visit Brinno's web page and buy a recommended SD card. This will likely solve any corrupt file issues. 4. I haven't used the waterproof enclosure yet, but it looks pretty sturdy. I'm happy to see they included moisture absorbing pads in the kit. Nice touch. 5. Clamp mount: I just starting playing with this, but its a beast. Much heavier than I expected it to be. It looks like it will, but I hope it holds out in the weather. 6. Making a finished product: Understand that you will have to get your own video editor software to stich the files together. Not to worry, there are plenty of free versions online. I researched, downloaded and stitched my first set of files together in under an hour.

I have had a outdoor building project which I wanted to film over several months - and found the camera to work extremely well. The weather has been abysmal over the winter, but the waterproof case, which I bought with the camera, has kept it bone dry and the lithium battery life has been exceptional. One final point: I lost the rubber lens cap but couldn't find one online, so got in touch with support who were happy to send me two spares all the way from China at no cost. Good service indeed!
