Works for me!
Only had this for one day so far but it seems to work perfectly. One of my two systems is a Mac Mini, so I'm using a miniDP to DP adapter before the KVM switch, and then a DP to miniDP adapter to connect the monitor. Installed easily, push the button and it works. I'll probably get some velcro tape to secure the unit somewhere, as the thick cables tend to drag it around mercilessly.

its not perfect, but it sure is head and shoulders better than the rest for the price
I'm updating my original review now that I have gotten this to work.I have 2 laptops with Displayport out (well one with Displayport, an HP laptop w/dock and one with mini Displayport, a Microsoft Surface Pro 2 w/dock, I have another adapter from mini Displayport to Displayport, again from Startech for that). The problem was I foolishly didn't check my monitor and realize that it didn't have Displayport, but rather HDMI. I originally purchased the passive adapter and got no video, but after swapping that one out for this active one I am good to go. My only wish is that the Displayport output to the monitor was on the back of the KVM, as well as perhaps the mouse and keyboard usb ports.Mouse and keyboard worked fine, but video would not pass through the switch. I contacted Startech customer service and they told me to just replace it, that it was most likely faulty, without any troubleshooting or suggestions, which makes me worry about their quality in general. I have sent it back to Amazon for a replacement and will hopefully bump up the review when a new working one arrives. My original KVM ended up being fine, I just needed the proper adapter, and no one from Startech seemed to be able to tell me that, I just had to guess to try the active adapter, and it happened to work.My other complaint is they don't offer the software as a download, so I had to copy the included CD onto a thumb drive and then use that to get it onto my Surface Pro 2. It works just fine with out the software, however, I wanted to take advantage of the "fixed audio" option, for which the software is necessary.

Works Great!
Works great with my laptop and desktop sharing a big monitor. The only drawback is that when switching from the laptop to the desktop, the laptop windows all resize themselves to fit the small built-in monitor, but don't restore themselves when switching back to the big monitor. Also, if the non-selected computer goes to sleep, you can't awaken it with the mouse or keyboard after switching to it; you have to press the power button.

Does not work with Windows 7, mostly works with Linux
I am evaluating DisplayPort KVM switches for my company.Executive Summary (for all you executives):This unit is unsatisfactory. The SIIG CE-KV0411-S1 is performing better.Test Configuration:Dell U2713HM 27-inch 2560x1440 MonitorHP Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 desktop systemWindows 7 Lenovo T420 laptopFeatures:This is an attractive, compact unit. It is very inexpensive. It is powered by USB, so there is no separate power supply. In addition to DisplayPort and USB, it also switches speaker and microphone. However I did not test the audio features. The USB and audio connectors can only reach about 10" (25cm) away from the DisplayPort plug on your computer.Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 desktop system:Both DisplayPort and USB work with Linux. However, from time to time the screen goes blank for a little less than a second.Windows 7 Lenovo T420 laptop:DisplayPort does not work with my Windows 7 Lenovo T420 laptop. USB works.Technical Support:Reasonable, helpful suggestions came within two business days. However the problem was not solved. Conclusion:The performance is unsatisfactory. There is no reason for a KVM switch to not work with every operating system. The display should not go blank from time to time, not even for a second.I have moved on to evaluating the SIIG CE-KV0411-S1. Thus far, the SIIG CE-KV0411-S1 exhibits none of the problems that plague this StarTech unit.

Works Great with high resolution display and wireless accesories
I got this to share my acer monitor (2560x1440) between my Dell Laptop running Windows 7 and my Mac Book Pro. It works great. The Mac Book does not have a PgDn key but I installed the Trendnet USB-KVM Switcher app and I can use Ctrl-Alt-1 to switch. I also use 2 Logitech dongles plugged into the KVM. One for wireless Keyboard & Mouse and the other for a wireless Headset.

We had to replace this and use another KVM
I wrote a more positive review of this KVM before, but as time went on, we had more and more problems with it to the point we had to replace it. I used the DisplayPort KVM and we used it on a Dell and HP workstations to toggle between them at work. It would stop working frequently (mouse and Keyboard were unresponsive) and it would display artifacts or blips on the screen randomly, and I would say not enough to make it unusable, but enough to be annoying and make you question the quality.I finally just bought a VGA KVM and the Monitor and HP workstation had a VGA port and I was able to add a VGA port to the Dell workstation with an adapter. After changing out this DisplayPort KVM for the VGA one from a different company (that was a lot cheaper) everything immediately improved. The screen did not have any artifacts or distortion on it and switching between computers was much faster and smoother.I generally like the company startech and I have used other products with good outcomes, so I was a bit surprised by what I think is sub-par quality with this KVM.

DP -> DP. HDMI -> HDMI.
