Another must have expansion
I will never play the game without this expansion again. I think the base game is great. After playing it though, I realized I wanted to buy both this expansion and the Crouching Tiger one. However, I bought the Crouching Tiger expansion first so that we could pour marbles down Vul-Kar more often (I mean that's the best part of the game!) to make the game even more entertaining for my children. This was the expansion I really wanted though. After thoroughly enjoying the base game with the other expansion, I figured that I had to just go for it and buy this expansion because it uses my favorite thing in games - variable player powers. I had read that some people thought that the player powers were imbalanced, and I will admit that some do seem better than others, but I don't think they are that different. I think that it mainly just influences how you are going to play, which is why I think variable player powers are so great in general. It makes it so that people are going for different things (especially with new items worth more points) and makes the game even better. Since you get to chose from two player power at the beginning of the game, you get to decide what you think your best route to victory is and adjust based on how others are playing. It is great (not to mention how much I like the design on the back of the cards!). I like the boulder idea, and it is great to have an extra player (wish they had made the base game for up to six though to start with). The idol and the rules that come with it make sense, and again add a new layer of strategy. The snake marbles are okay I guess, but if I had to leave one thing out to make the set cheaper, that would be it.The only downside that I see to this expansion is that it costs 20 dollars. The Crouching Tiger expansion is 15 dollars, and I wish this was more in line with that because that would be a good deal. I think the base game is great (I and am glad I do because of how expensive it is) but these two expansions make it a great family game with more strategy. This is a top family game, that can now also be used as a break for more intense gamers to enjoy (I thought that before, but now I really do because the player powers add greater replayability - each game will be different based on how you want to use the power that you possess).

Expansion for main game.
This is an expansion to the main game Firball Island. This expansion is not needed to play the game, this is to add extra fun and excitement for every player

Adds another player.
Kind of annoyed they didn't include the fifth adventurer with the full game but either way its a good addition. I'm glad they made it because now my family of five can all play together.

gift for my son
Looks like a great addition to the FireBall Island game, although game pieces are very small. Seems overpriced for a few marbles and cards but happy to get this expansion

Not the full game
This listing is very misleading - expansion pack should be in the name. It is not a game you can play without another that is apparently not even sold by the same seller.

Adds more fun to the base game
Having the option for the 5th player means one more friend's worth of of fun. Like the addition of the additional idol and snakes, which adds more strategy and makes the idols' point values more weighted. And the additional action cards help prevent the eruptions from being too frequent.

Fooled on the Edition
This is less expensive edition that has much less game than the previous edition. I did not realize this was a different game by a different manufacturer. Fool me once...

Nice Expansion
We really like this expansion of Fireball Island. We got this mainly for the extra player, and it came with extra cards to supplement. My only gripe would be the snake marbles are really easy to knock over by accident. There was one we couldn't even use because it would not stay in place. I would only take a half star off for this because I like all other aspects. Since Amazon doesn't do half stars, it gets five.
