Tip on installing in ceiling
A 12x12 door that is heavy is challanging to install overhead. What I did is use 2 bar clamps, one on the door with side of clamp against frame to hold it open 90 degrees and the other to hold frame to rough opening. Be sure after installing to bend the interior tab slightly per instructions so that latch will go into strike. Tab drops down otherwise and latch does notpush it up. Not sure why a 12x12 has one of those latches... maybe for when you are in ceiling you can stick your head out and call for help?
