Construction & Evaluation (CE) ARE 5.0 Mock Exam (Architect Registration Exam): ARE 5.0 Overview, Exam Prep Tips, Hot Spots, Case Studies, Drag-and-Place, Solutions and Explanations

Gang Chen books are among the best for ARE test prep. The intro chapters for testing strategy are very helpful. My problem with the 5.0 series is that the cover says, "Hot Spots, Case Studies, Drag-and-Place," so I assumed there would be questions formatted to this particular type. Instead, it seems to be recycled 4.0 material. There were no hot spots or drag-and-place, and the "Case Study," was just a recycled version of the ARE 4.0 CDS vignette.The content is definitely useful and helps you think critically for the exam, but there's not enough differentiation for 5.0. I was disappointed that there weren't at least some questions formatted in the new 5.0 style. Save your money and stick with the 4.0 CDS edition.

I found the general testing advice and approach toward studying and taking the test more useful than the amount of information on the study material presented in this book. I would not now purchase a book for each of the 6 ARE divisions I am studying for, rather apply the general strategies learned from this one book toward all other tests. Good to buy once, but once is enough.

Passed on first try by utilizing the resources list, reading the specific areas where Gang says to focus on and then went right to the mock exam and results review. Made the actual exam somewhat painless. (CE is obviously not the hardest of the 5.0 exams but like the others, spend your time on the right content and they are all passable)

This is the second book I bought from Chen, it is a great source for Q&A, accurate questions and great explanation for each one. Highly recommend this book and author to prepare your tests.

Not enough study material .

I bought two books by mistake. Can I reture it one ?

There are so many ARE prep exam sources out there, and they are in many different formats from audios, videos and with animations. While I was looking for different sources to expand and explore different Construction & Evaluation (CE) materials, I found Gang Chen's CE ARE 5 Exam Guide is the one worth to have.The exam guide follows NCARB's objectives with clear and easy to read contents that is comprehensive, covers important and critical concepts of each objectives with real life practice examples that I think it's very helpful for the CE exam.I think this is an exam guild book you can use to kick off your preparation so you will have a board foundation idea of the CE exam contents. You will also follow the exam prep tips in the book, efficiently learn and owe the materials.This is an excellent exam guild written by an architect with solid experience not only in professional filed but also in ARE exam materials that have helped manys achieve their goals. And this is my humble opponents.

The book gives a great general overview of the exam. There are also several sections on general test taking strategies and advice, and he describes ways to maximize our limited time to study to make the time effective. This is a great resource for the ARE exam and the material covers all the sections that we an expect to show up on the test, in addition to listing other resources to study in order to prepare for the ARE 5.0
